Budapest and others

Szechenyi Chain bridge

This bridge links Buda with Pest and was built by an English man. We boarded our cruise boat very near here at the beginning of our rather fateful trip down the Danube. It was bakingly hot so didn’t want to be out in the heat for too long

We sailed over night and docked at Bratislava where we walked from one bit of shade to the next in 36 degree heat. I loved the place, its back alleyways and history. I sat here and could hear the sound of sparrows and distant music.

Just noted it was very warm again

Cathedral at Passau

Again a wonderful old town, with a lovely wide open square. I did this while Maggie went in the church for the service

It was here that I left my hat after the sketch and had to trek back later to retrieve it from the Pew. It was also here that we learnt that the next lock along the river was damaged and that we might not be able to continue our cruise!
